“Rainbow Kitten Surprise” is a 20” x 24” acrylic painting on canvas and the newest piece in my ongoing Catterfly series. I started this one live during Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival while Rainbow Kitten Surprise was playing and somehow the entire weird beautiful energy of that moment melted straight into the painting 😅 It became this wild cosmic mix of cat, butterfly, rainbow explosion and emotional support creature from another dimension. The giant glossy eyes, dripping psychedelic wings, hidden details, glowing rainbow tones, mushrooms, stars and dreamy cloudscape all slowly evolved layer by layer while I painted and now it feels like one of those pieces that almost looks different every time you stare at it. Super playful, super colorful, slightly unhinged in the best way possible and absolutely packed with little textures and tiny details all throughout the canvas.
